Yarrows are amid the best plants for dry sunny locations. Some pre-site planning is needed due to their tendency to spread, so don't be afraid to trim them back 1/3 before they reach 18 inches tall. This will produce shorter stockier plants that are self-supporting early in the season, along with a more numerous amount of flowers. Leave basal foliage over the winter and cut out the dead foliage in the spring.
